Caravan inspiration
Hello, We are taking our new caravan away this week for 3 nights. I've not really cooked in a caravan before and am looking for meal inspiration. There are 2 adults, a 2 year old and a 4 year old. We have an oven, 3 gas hob and a microwave. I'd rather not use too much gas and I really want to keep it fairly healthy. Cheap…

Redundancy
I have to be careful what I say, so if things don't seem clear that's why. My husband will be officially out of work 4.30pm 31st October. It will be the first time in his adult life (he's 52) that he's not worked for this company or not worked at all! I'm a carer for our son, he's just started school but life is tough for…

Cold lunches for work
I normally cook a big pot of something for tea, freeze some and portion an good amount for lunch the next day. It works well and fills me up. However, the kitchen area at work is filthy. I microwave with the lid on but loose, so splashes don't dirty it. We've now been told that everyone using the microwave, fridge or sink…

roast in the bag kits
I'm a fan of the kits where you get a roasting bag and a sachet of seasoning, add your ingredients mix on the powder and away you go. But rather than buy them I'm keen to make my own seasoning. We like the sweet chilli and cajun ones, but I'm guessing it's not just a case of buying a pot of sweet chilli or cajun powder as…

Hot water bottles
Gave ours a winter test run. Noticed when emptying the water there were a lot of loose little rubber bits coming out. Is this normal or a sign that the rubber is perishing and it needs to be replaced? Dont want it leaking all over the bedclothes!

Small bottles
I've made some bramble brandy and jams, I am looking to make some into a hamper, for MIL 's present. The only thing I am struggling with is where to get small bottles from to decant the brandy into, I haven't made much brandy so was looking to put it into smaller bottles but I can't seem to find any inspiration.

Value frozen veg?
Hey hope it's ok to post here, I have a bag of value frozen veg (on a use up what we have in week), nobody in our house likes this frozen veg. I was thinking, can I make it into soup? It's broccoli, cauliflower, carrots and peas. If I can, how would I go about it? I've never made soup before. I am currently hunting through…

Mouldy mushrooms from Aldi
I am not really a fan of Aldi. Me and OH are vegetarian so, obviously, eat lots of fruit and veg. I find that the quality is not very good in Aldi and they don't last any time at all. Anyway, on Saturday I needed to buy some mushrooms for a meal I was making on Sunday. Me and OH went to visit some friends and had to pass…

Removing static from clothes
Sorry if this has been asked countless times before, I couldn't find anything on the search function. I've got a couple of dresses that develop so much static that by mid-morning they're completely stuck to my legs. I've tried spraying them with a fabric conditioner/water mix and/or hairspray but it doesn't seem to make…

My in laws are snobs...
..and it's starting to get under my skin. :( We are a professional couple with 2 children, we have a good income and live in a nice house in a nice street in a good catchment area. However, I have been raised to be frugal and I believe my frugality has given us a secure nest egg for the future and my children's future. We…

Pet faeces stains out of carpet?
Hey guys hopefully this is the best place for this, noticed another query on stains was put in this sub-forum ages back. So unfortunately a new rescue cat has some digestive issues which has resulted in multiple diarrhea stains on light biege carpets...sigh. I've tried a enzyme based pet stain remover, which works on tiny…

Christmas Cake - missed ingredient
I had my first Christmas cake in the oven tonighf for about ten minutes when it struck me I hadn’t added the treacle. I’m using Delia Smith’s Recipe OK so it’s not the end of the world but rather than giving it that dark coloured look will it affect the taste of the cake? My intention was to completely ice it As I see it…

Best gluten free bread
Hi unfortunately I am gluten intolerant so have had to change the way I cook etc. That in itself is not a problem but I find the gluten free bread quite disgusting. Usually I toast it and that does help. Can anyone recommend a type of bread/roll that is more palatable. All gf stuff seems to carry a premium by way of cost.…
