Eggless breadmaker fruit loaf
Does anybody have a breadmaker recipe for fruit bread without eggs please? Preferably without milk powder too as I don't do dairy but can use dairy free liquid milks and margarine so that's not an issue. I have done a search but turned up nothing helpful and I'm rubbish at converting oven recipes to breadmaker recipes!…

Weekly Flylady Thread 9th October 2017
What is FLYLADY? Well, it's our version of the US flylady idea - but we work on the principle that housework is not fun, it's boring, can be time-consuming, is often thankless but, unfortunately, necessary. It's here on Old Style to provide the support we all need and to make the whole task easier and quicker. We also…

Menu planning
Hi folks, I am wondering if anyone can help me. I have decided to get organised and would like to find a monthly dinner menu planning template. I have spent hours looking on the internet, but they are either printable or they include breakfast, lunch and snacks. I've had a look on the Forum but haven't found anything.…

Sourdough and long fermentation specifically
I have been a long time sourdough baker, I do have periods when I just let the starter go to sleep but it is easy to revive. I am back into a sd phase, it has taken me three days and my starter is ready to climb out of its pot. I feed it with any flour, 00 makes it revive quickly and rye gives it sourness. Over the past…

Cleaning glass hob?
I'm at a friends apartment and they've spilled filter coffe on the hob( quick heating type). What can I use to clean it off? They've only got very basic cleaning things in as they usually have a cleaner. How can I clean it?

Labeling food in freezer?
How do other people identify frozen meals in their freezers? I love my slow cooker and like to freeze surplus portions ready for a quick and easy tea. However I've found once frozen, they look identical. Is it chilli? Bolognese? Casserole? BBQ chicken? I can never tell! I don't think marker pen will work on the plastic,…

Student loans no more
Ever since the student loan system started I have been moaning that it makes youngsters believe that debt is ok, whilst my old style brain thinks it is anathema. Plus it makes people from lower income families think twice about uni - as the first person in my family to get a degree I know I'd have thought long and hard…

Additional trousers for a three-piece suit?
I would really grateful for any advice on whether it is indeed worth buying a second (or even third) pair of trousers with a new suit. Despite being in my late 30s, I can't base any decision on any prior experience - I always seem to end up in office jobs that seem to go for smart casual rather than suits and the suits I…

British Gas..Never again!
Hi, I've just left British Gas after 12 months of the worst service ever. Smart meters that have not worked properly from the beginning, overseas call centres offering platitudes rather than results and now they want to hang on to my £80 credit for two weeks until it suits them to return it! I don't care how cheap their…
