best powder/liquid for black clothes + sensitive skin?
I've been using an asda own-brand non-bio for a while; seems fine but I'm wondering if there's something that would preserve the black of my mainly black clothes, but also be sensitive to my skin? I mostly do cold washes, or 40 degrees max. thankyou

Chapati Flour Recipes
OK, so....I ordered some Chapati Flour from Morrisons online. It was delivered yesterday, and I quickly realised my mistake... I thought it said 1kg, not 10kg, and it was £4.50 for 1 bag, or 2 for £5, so, you know, I ordered two..... The recipe I wanted it for only uses 200g. I've made them (rotis) and they're lovely, but…

Bone broth - looking for slow cooker recommendation
Hello, I'm new to the forum, so I hope it's ok to jump in with a question: I've recently discovered bone broth and want to make my own (probably chicken to begin with and moving onto beef). However, my cheapo slow cooker tends to boil things away, no matter what setting I have it on. My understanding for bone broth,…

Weekly Flylady Thread 26th June 2017
What is FLYLADY? Well, it's our version of the US flylady idea - but we work on the principle that housework is not fun, it's boring, can be time-consuming, is often thankless but, unfortunately, necessary. It's here on Old Style to provide the support we all need and to make the whole task easier and quicker. We also…

Carpet shampooing.
I have asked in past as I have a large Vax carpet cleaner, I never got it working well doing the method described in manual i.e fill the liquid container with solution and then just go over a dry carpet. What always worked far better for me was to use warm/hot water on carpet and then use the machine to soak it up, this…

Multifuel/wood stoves: what other uses do they have?
I've just been looking at a cast iron jacket potato cooking contraption for a stove top and I wondered 1) did I actually need one and 2) what else I could do atop my stove? Have you any handy tips on how to use the heat of the stove for any other use, cooking or otherwise?

Freezing Ready-Grated Cheese?
If I buy a large bag of ready-grated cheese can I freeze it in portion size amounts? I'm worried it might freeze into solid lumps, and that I do not want!
