best powder/liquid for black clothes + sensitive skin?

I've been using an asda own-brand non-bio for a while; seems fine but I'm wondering if there's something that would preserve the black of my mainly black clothes, but also be sensitive to my skin?

I mostly do cold washes, or 40 degrees max.

thankyou

I use Aldi's non-bio liquid for my clothes as I have sensitive skin and bio-logical stuff make me itch like mad. I always use white vinegar and not fabric conditioner as well.

A bit dearer, but you only need tiny amounts: I use Bio-D or Ecover from my local wholefood co-op.
Ecover have gone back to doing 5 litre containers, which last me months.

I would add that it is worth considering a water softener if you are in a position to afford / fit one.

Also, don't use fabric softener on sensitive skin. An extra rinse if you like, and if you think the clothes seem 'hard' then a quick iron will help. Some people claim that fabric softener preserves fabric -I think that not so, as I keep clothes for years, and have never used softener (other than to find out it makes me itch!)

You could try using white vinegar, instead of fabric conditioner. Removes any residue soap from the wash, and your clothes will not smell of vinegar.
I've been using it for more years than I care to remember, and have never had any problems with itchy clothes, and I do have very sensitive skin, unfortunately.

Bear in mind that non bio powders have bleach in them.
I use Fairy laundry liquid or Ecover depending on what's on offer.

Ecover have separate bleach that you can add to the wash if you like. That is one reason you only need small amounts.

    Thanks all!

I always found that Ecover doesn't work so well at removing stains. I'd prefer to use a detergent that doesn't have bleach in, so I might give it another go. I only wash at 40 degrees, I don't know if that makes a difference...

I've never used fabric softener. Never even considered it!

One other thing than you can do, is when hanging clothes outside, turn them outside in to prevent fading.
