Need a recipe but cannot find the book
I want to make the Cuban breadrecipe from the Tightwad gazette but I cant find my copy of the book. Can anyone who has it email it to me? I honestly do have the book so I dont think you would be breaking any copyright law. All I can remember is that you make a sloppy mix then add more flour and when yo bake it you put a…

Warning: only read if you have time :D I have just spent 2 hrs reading lots of tips about cleaning, cooking, organising ...etc. It is similar to the flylady site but I think…

Oh no, I left the stew out all night!
Hello all, Yesterday I made a massive stew for tea and enough to freeze to last weeks. However once it was finished I had to dash out to the hospital with my little boy (he's fine, ear infection but got very hot). When we came back in we went straight to bed and I forgot about the stew!! Will I have to waste it all now? It…

How to keep my guinea pigs warm?
Hi, I don't know if this is the right place for this but I know everyone here on OS is helpful and resourceful so I thought I would start here. I have two guinea pigs who live outside in a hutch. I am worried about them during the very cold nights. The past two mornings their water bottle has been frozen (not solid but…

How to cook & keep house with one arm?!
I hope you can all think of some inventive ideas! :D In a few weeks I have to have a shoulder operation (my own fault - I used to live in Austria and I was skiing far too quickly one day  ). Anyway, I won't be able to use my left arm for at least 3 weeks  - it will be in a sling and I am NOT ALLOWED TO USE…

Cast iron skillet for £7.99!
I found a BIG cast iron skillet at TJ Hughes in Oldham for £7.99 Saturday! I'm so thrilled... most of the ones I've found in the UK have been the really expensive Le Crueset ones (£35 or so) and the ones for sale on the Aga cookshop site are similarly priced. I eventually ordered this one for £11.95 from Castinstyle…

Valentine's day problem
Hello, I rashly promised to cook dinner for my boyfriend on Valentine's day before it dawned on me that I wouldn't get home from college until after 9pm. He doesn't want 'any reheated stuff'. So I need something that's foolproof, tastes amazing, looks fantastic and can be made in about 20 minutes. Am I being a bit…

Cadburys drinking chocolate...what to do with it? 1kg of the stuff
I have a huge tub of this in the cupboard and apart form the obvious of a hot drink, I wouldn't mind using it up in cooking. Does anyone know of any recipes to add this to? If anyone has any idea of experimenting with it too, I don't mind having a go and letting you know what goes.

Birds Eye Frozen Soya Beans
Has anyone used these, and if so what for? DH - the old romantic - brought me a packet back from Sainsbury as a pressie! The only thing I can think of is to add them to bulk out a stew. However, I know you creative lot will no doubt have much better suggestions. [I'm hoping they weren't an early Valentine's present:mad: .]

Baby poo stains...
I guess I could have added this on to the muesli thread, sorry folks, I'm all over the place. I've done a search but nothing comes up for this one (some very amusing things DO come up, but nothing on baby poo, lol!) I have tried soaking in bio powder and cold water, and then washing, but to no avail. I bought some soda…

Fed up with soap powder all over floor
I know this sounds silly: I have gone back to using soap powder instead of liquid, as much cheaper. And I now use much less which gets stuff just as clean. But whatever brand I use I always end up spilling some all over the floor. Does anyone have a spillproof container they decant their powder into which would stop me…

slow cooker lid wobbly and has a gap is this ok?
My sc pot broke the other day and I bought a new one but the lid is a bit wobbly when I press down on one end of it and there seems to be a gap between the lid and the pot. I looked at loads in Argos (I think I got on the sales assistant's nerves!) but they all wobbled. Its a morphy richards one and is the same as my old…
