Oh no, I left the stew out all night!

Hello all,
Yesterday I made a massive stew for tea and enough to freeze to last weeks.
However once it was finished I had to dash out to the hospital with my little boy (he's fine, ear infection but got very hot).
When we came back in we went straight to bed and I forgot about the stew!!
Will I have to waste it all now? It has been covered up but has been at room temp all night, would be a shame to have to bin it all (there are 2 pans worth! :(
Thanks :D

If your kitchen got as cold as ours did last night, it will be as good as a fridge.

I have forgot about things and left them out all night before....i'm still here lol Just put it in the fridge/freezer this morning and when you use it make sure it is piping hot all the way through before you eat it. You will be fine :)

My mum never puts things in the fridge overnight!! Keep trying to tell her she should but all she says is.... well it never makes me ill.

If your kitchen is heated I would bin it. If like ours it drops to icebox temp during the night I would keep it.:D

  • Just heat it through thoroughly and it should be fine. I do this all the time.
  • Bring it up to boiling for a few minutes and then cool rapidly in a sink of cold water.

I do this all the time, infact some time I can leave a stew on the hob for a whole week ;) Just make sure you boil it up for a while and that it's scalding hot throughout before you serve:D I've not killed any of us yet and I've been doing this for erm... 6 years :D

I often leave things out overnight, sometimes you have to if it isnt cool enough to freeze/refridgerate. Hasnt done us any harm.

I often find that stuff isn't cool enough to put into the fridge before I go to bed so I leave it out until morning and portion it up then. As long as you reheat it properly (which you would do anyway!) then I don't see that leaving it out for an extra 6-8 hours is going to make any difference. It's better than putting a warm stew into the fridge.
