Oh no, I left the stew out all night!

I made a stew last night and left it out delibrately as it was too warm to freeze last night.
And don't tell him, but yesterday I fed hubby a stir-fry that was left over from the night before and just sat in the frying pan all night AND day.
He's still alive, and I promise I have never done it before :rolleyes: ...:wall:0 -
Erm - often do this - our kitchen has no heating - I just cover the pan and then bag up in the morning - when I use again I just make sure it is cooked through and boiling for a few minutes just in case....0

I do this all the time. But as a side note, apparently it's OK to put warm things in the fridge/freezer, so you CAN do it straight away.:cool: DFW Nerd Club member 023...DFD 9.2.2007 :cool::heartpuls married 21 6 08 :A Angel babies' birth dates 3.10.08 * 4.3.11 * 11.11.11 * 17.3.12 * 2.7.12 :heart2: My live baby's birth date 22 7 09 :heart2: I'm due another baby at the end of July 2014! :j

I do this all the time. Apparently makes the fridge/freezer work harder and OH seems paranoid about me doing that but I just keep quiet and stick it in the freezer when it's cooled down to "warm". Otherwise I'd forget often!!
I thought you were meant to put warm rice straight into the fridge/freezer to stop the bacteria anyway?

This might be a daft question but why is it that you can't put warm stuff in the fridge/freezer??
I know you shouldn't - just don't know why!Official DFW Nerd Club Member No: 286

Yup, they have changed the guidelines on this. It is now OK to put things straight in the fridge/freezer, I never stopped doing it anyway. LOLLife's a beach! Take your shoes off and feel the sand between your toes.0 -
I think its because it ups the temperature of your fridge. I dont think it has anything to do with the food just the temperature of the fridge.0

I assume the OP's stew was red meat, not chicken? I'd be a bit more wary about chicken that's been left overnight, but beef or lamb should be fine if it has now been frozen.
I haven't bogged off yet, and I ain't no babe
