My sc pot broke the other day and I bought a new one but the lid is a bit wobbly when I press down on one end of it and there seems to be a gap between the lid and the pot. I looked at loads in Argos (I think I got on the sales assistant's nerves!) but they all wobbled.
Its a morphy richards one and is the same as my old one (apart from the gap) Can anyone please help?
Many thanks DH

Hm... lots of pots have this problem...
It's going to depend on a couple of things:-
a) can you seat it in some way so that it only rocks a little and that the gaps are about even wherever they might occur?
b) when cooking, does the water manage to seal the gaps?
If yes to both then I reckon you'll be ok.
If no, and particularly to b) then I reckon you'd be well within your rights to ask for an exchange.Hi, I'm a Board Guide on the Old Style and the Consumer Rights boards which means I'm a volunteer to help the boards run smoothly and can move and merge posts there. Hi Desperate Housewife,
A few people have had this problem with the morphy richards slow cooker. This older thread might help: Slow Cooker Worry

Thanks guys,
I've just rang Morphy Richards and they seem to think its normal. I've got a beef curry in there so hopefully should turn out ok for tea tonight.Save £12k in 2012 no.49 £10,250/£12,000

Hi
My slow clooker has a glass lid that wobbles slightly too, and doesn't seen to "quite fit".
However, it cooks just fine - the only problem I ever encounter is the smell of the cooking escaping0 -
Yeah... drives me NUTS when I'm at home. Lovely delicious pongs drifting about the house for HOURS before I can eat it!Hi, I'm a Board Guide on the Old Style and the Consumer Rights boards which means I'm a volunteer to help the boards run smoothly and can move and merge posts there. Would a sheet of greaseproof paper over the cooker before you put the lid on help?0
-
Mine started to wobble a while after I bought it and I don't know why. I either put a sheet of tinfoil under the lid and lid on top if I'm worried about liquid evaporating, or stick a clean tea towel over the whole thing if just wanting to keep smells at bay, or more usually forget to do either and it usually works out OK!0

I got an email from Morphy Richards and this is what they say...
Thank you for your e-mail regarding your Morphy Richards Slow Cooker model 48710. Although the lid is not tight fitting it may be the crock-pot that is not finished off properly which is causing the wobble, if the lid just moves slightly from left to right, not up & down this is normal.
Please would you confirm, and also forward the 8 digit date coded serial number, located on the base of the appliance itself, along with your address, purchase date and name of retailer.
We look forward to hearing from you shortly and assure you of our best attention to quality and customer support at all times.
Then the reply was....
Thank you for your e-mail. The slow cooker would be safe to use, the appliance does not get to boiling point therefore there should be no reason why the lid would wobble on its own accord, due to steam/pressure building up.
We hope that this information clarifies the situation, and should yo have any further queries please do not hesitate to contact us again.
Bit contradictory but the beef for tonights tea seems ok and I think I'll stick with it for now...
