Use the heat from gas pilot lights
I read this tip from 'tips and wrinkles' that i picked up at the local jumble sale yesterday. Place a firebrick over the gas pilot light on the cooker when the ring is not in use/overnight. The brick will absorb and store the heat and can then be used to keep a pot warm. I've not tried this out ( i've not got a gas hob),…

White bread versus brown
On another forum we're having a discussion about school packed lunches, again and someone has said to me "nothing wrong with white bread, it contains more calcium than brown" Is that true? Is it better to get calcium from milk and fibre from wholemeal bread? Just a little confused about this.
