sticky mess? - any ideas?
I accidentally knocked a pot of sticky runny honey onto the floor without noticing, and while I was out of the kitchen, the contents of the jar (the lid had come off in the fall) spread into a large sticky puddle on the floor. Does anyone have an idea how to best clean up such a giant sticky mess? I could try just water…

How long can you freeze meat for?
Hi all OK, we've been through the use by date theories, so what about freezing stuff? I notice that if you buy "fresh" prepacked meat at the supermarket it says suitable for home freezing, and usually use within one month. I've got some stewing steak in my freezer that has been there getting on for a year (slapped wrist…

Fridge Essentials?
My fridge has finally been fixed and is waiting to be filled with goodies :j It's a good opportunity to build a stock of OS basics - but I can't think what to buy! What's on your 'fridge essentials' list and why? Is there anything that always ends up lurking at the back of the fridge?

Use by date on food
You know when they put a use by date on food, does it really really definitely have to be used by that date, or do they put a date a day or two before it would really go off, just to cover themselves?

Need the opinion of OS-ers
Guys, I've posted a thread here http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=228898 about virtual wedding invitations because we can't afford real cards and plus I think it's a huge waste of money and paper. I could do with some honest opinions on what you would think if you received a virtual invitation since OS…

Longevity of a breadmaker
Hi there I have been reading the bread making thread, and noticed a couple of people saying that their panasonic stopped giving them decent loaves after about 4 months. This is kinda scary, as for £80 I would hope that it would last at least a year or two - my last one lasted four, but wasn't used all that much (the bread…

Help - completely dusted in...
I dust our whole flat once a week. I usually use a wet cloth and wipe everything including the blinds. But because we live on one of the busiest roads in Hackney and only have single glazing (took me weeks to get used to the noise at night...) I get soooo much dust in all the time. We have no carpets, but wooden flooring,…

Yogurt without a starter
I started off a batch of yogurt yesterday and only this morning when I was looking in the fridge for something did I realise that I forgot to put the starter in. But then when I looked at the ones I've made it has still worked, even without the starter. So it begs to ask, do you actually need one? All useful posts will be…
