Longevity of a breadmaker

Options
Hi there

I have been reading the bread making thread, and noticed a couple of people saying that their panasonic stopped giving them decent loaves after about 4 months.

This is kinda scary, as for £80 I would hope that it would last at least a year or two - my last one lasted four, but wasn't used all that much (the bread wasn't nearly as good as the Panasonic's - even cynical OH loves this bread, he thought I was buying 'another white elephant'.

Anyway, how long has your breadmaker been going and making really scrummy bread?

I have a morphy richard that still makes great bread (6 years old), but I need to replace the pan as it's no longer non-stick.

Mine was out of Lidl, cost £25 and lasted about 2 years of daily use. I don't feel cheated.

I had an LG one which lasted almost 5 years, then the non stick started coming off. I did try to get replacement paddle, but couldn't find one so bought a panasonic. I must say, if it does stop giving good loaves after 4 months, I shall be complaining loudly! But it is excellent so far.

I've had the Panasonic 2 or 3 years. Still makes as good bread as the day I got it.

I'm wondering whether it's the pan that's to blame? I recall reading that one poster had to replace the pan as it lost it's 'non stick'. I tend to use lots and lots of seeds/banana chips etc and can see that the coating has already worn in places, but I'm still 'in love' with it! :D

I've just ordered my second replacement breadpan for my six year old machine. It cost me a whole £5.86 inc p&p.

I really really REALLY want it to break down in such a way that I can justify buying a Panasonic.

    It's gonna last forever <sob> :(

I have this unbranded BM which have had for years, it might even be 10 now.......it's still going strong. Not daily use, but every 2-3 days, sometimes, a bit more frequent. It's one of those double paddle things.
Friend was impressed with my bread, so bought BM and she is on 2nd now.
Think it is just a matter of luck - but 4 months is certainly not on, I would be taking it back!

I did buy a Panasonic due to great reviews, tried it, and it was great. Unfortunately for me, was not bought for this house, but for new one, so had to pack it up............hmmm! Well if mine does break, I can bring it out, as they wouldn't be without home made bread and pizza......no am not praying for that to happen!:D

our panasonic is about three years old and still as good as new,but then again it is stuck at the back of the cupboard having only been used twice,it will probably still be as good as new in another three years
