Keeping glue brush clean
Hiya, Having gone a bit artsy-fartsy recently, I need a bit of advice on glue. I've had a look at the other gluey threads on OS but they're more for emergencies (i.e. getting it off clothes, superglued fingers, etc!). My question is this. I'm using a pastry brush to spread glue on my masterpiece, but find that,…

Do you use Calgon?
Don,t know if this is the right place to post but wondered what your views are on this subject. There was an advert on today, regarding how many washing machines end up in landfill because their owners failed to use "Calgon". Now I don't know about you but the price of Calgon puts me right off - I think it is very…

I'm thinking of making a £3.99 sweetie bet - will it work?
I have seen huge 1.5 kilo tins of Roses in the supermarket, they are priced at £3.99 which is half price. They are all dated 11/6 but I'd like to buy one to put away till next Christmas. I know that they won't be eaten because I'll put them in a cupboard at the back of the garage, this is also the coolest place that I can…

Yorkshire pudding tins
Ok guys, What tins would you recommend for making yorkshire puddings in. I have tried several over the years, most of which have rusted  . I've resorted to using old mince pie foil tins - they work well but obviously they wont last forever.

Forgotten Puddings?
Does anyone else still make their own bread pudding? Most people I talk to about it have either never heard of it or just think of the shop bought version (bland and dry imho). My family love it either with custard or on its own and it means that I very very rarely throw any bread away. Another one is Macaroni pudding made…

Advice about freezing
Hi, Can anyone please advise me whether it is o.k to freeze Toad in the Hole? My lot would usually get through 2 huge roasting tins of Toad in the Hole and as an experiment, I decided to try making some bun tin sized ones instead, using just 1/3 of a sausage in each. This worked so well that I ended up with 6 very full…

How much do you spend on food a month?
I'm sure there was a recent thread on this but couldn't find it. Just curious I guess. I think a lot depends on where you live and what you have access to such as supermarkets, local shops, farmers markets etc. Especially would like to know what people in households with only adults spend but would also like to know about…

Is there a quick and easy method to make pancakes?
Bearing in mind that I don't have any scales or electrical gadgets and have no idea how to estimate anything. Not had pancakes in ages and really fancy some for some reason. The last time I had them they were shop bought. I'd be happy if I managed to make something edible but knowing my luck. Only want to make 2 or 3.…

Old Style Veggies - Soil Conditioning
Conditioning your soil..... If your soil is heavy, cloggy clay that cannot be dug properly or is lumpy and hard then I would suggest it needs conditioning to a suitable state for growing your Old Style vegetables and flowers. This can be done by the little known method of adding Gypsum to it and secondly adding lots of…
