I'm sure there was a recent thread on this but couldn't find it.
Just curious I guess. I think a lot depends on where you live and what you have access to such as supermarkets, local shops, farmers markets etc.
Especially would like to know what people in households with only adults spend but would also like to know about households with children so I know what I have to look forward to!
I used to spend so much money on food and this is just for me. Would always have lots of takeaways and ready meals but I have cut this down by masses so am quite proud of myself in that respect.
Now all I need to do is learn how to cook properly. Main problem in that being I don't actually enjoy cooking but it saves so much money that I have been doing a lot more than I used to.

I think if you check out the Grocery Challenge you'll find lots of food budgets posted.
You can find the Grocery Challenge in my signature any time you see it or...
..you can use the Indexed Collections link in the Blue Bar at the top of every page which looks something like this:-
Edit: An older thread on budgeting for groceries is linked below:-
http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?p=608295#post608295
and there are a number of other threads listed under "budgeting" in the Shopping section of the MEGA Index sticky.
