Difference between nearly new car and used car
Ok, need a new car and have looked around and the options seem to be: 13k for a brand new car 10-11k for a nearly new car of the same spec (1 year old, 3k odd miles) 7-8k for a 2009 model (30k odd miles) + 500 for warranty etc. I want a reliable car (many problems with my current one) and am planning to keep this car for…

Trouble with car dealership - what are my consumer rights?
Hello! This is my first post, so be gentle! My dad has recently traded in his Mini in part-exchange for a Skoda Yeti. The Mini was quite new, but gave his back awful jip... So in other words, it was still worth quite a bit! So he bought this near-new Yeti (ex-demo) in part-exchange. Day 1 with the new Yeti and my dad goes…

GAP insurance
I've just bought a new car and the dealer tried to sell me the above insurance. it apparently covers the difference between what you get from the insurance company for your write off and the cost on your invoice. Has anyone got any experience of this type of insurance, where would you get the most cost effective policies?…

Who can I complain to?
The right rear brake of my car siezed on last week so I took it to National Tyres. After an examination they said I required a new caliper to be fitted along with brake pads and discs and quoted £405 for the job. I thought this excessive so I went elsewhere for a second opinion. I told the new garage what National Tyres…

I've decided to buy my used car ... so what?
Hello guys, I've been reading quite a lot on how to choose the best deal, what to check, what to avoid and bla bla bla. I could post tons of links (but I don't want) to web sites with many different suggestions, but none of them seems to be "up to date". I mean, among the other things it looks like the government approved…

Wheel bearing replaced, failed within weeks
Hi, the wheel bearing was replaced on my car by a local garage ( not a manufacturer specialist- its a boxster) They said it was a Porsche part. The car has just made a horrible grinding and bumping sound from the rear and I think it's the wheel bearing. The garage are coming to collect the car and check it out, but I…

Do you always go with the cheapest insurance quote?
Its renewal time and I've been using comparison sites. There's a whopping £78 difference between my renewal price for my motorbike and the cheapest online quote. But the cheapest is Hastings Direct which appears to have a really bad reputation. Do you always go for the cheapest? Or is the 'quality' of the company more…

Any New Car Shows In South Of England
I'm looking to buy a new car and would like to visit a car show to get to look at many options in one place. Trouble is the downturn in the economy seems to have put a stop to these type of shows. So, is anyone aware of any upcoming new car shows in Southern England, preferably Hampshire, Dorset, Sussex or Wiltshire. Thanks
