make sure its the seal though and not a rusty sump gone porous due to rot0 -

If it is only the sump gasket and you can see where its coming out, try smearing some high-temp RTV sealant on the outside; might do the trick as it's not a high pressure situation.0

i have an oil leak coming from the oil sump gasket would oil sealant seal it.

If your willing to get mucky unscrewing/bolting the sump (drain engine oil first), you could happily use some "Hylomar Universal Blue" instant gasket compound and then bolt it all back together..
Though tbh, in that instance a replacement gasket probably wouldn't cost a great deal anyway.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

thanks to you all i would not like to try and change the gasket myself as i am bo good at that sort of thing but i will give RTV sealant a try,another problem i get now and again is it losers power like it miss fires i have just had new plugs and coil pack fitted any ideas on this,

i dont think the blue would be suitable
i used rtv for £5 last time i did a sump
manufacturers recommended stuff came in at £150 -

if your sump is made of tin then its quite likely it will go out of shape as you remove it
you never said make model so no-one would be able to advise you
as regards wacking rtv on the side it will do as much good as candle wax because oil creeps0 -
the car is a 1.6 petrol picasso.
