Driving to an MOT without an MOT
I know that I would be fine riding to a pre booked MOT on my bike even though the MOT has expired (15 April) as my bike is taxed and insured. Long story short, my friend has trusted mechanic & garage who I would like to use, however this is 30 miles away from where my bike is. My query is whether there is a restriction on…

Recommendations for MOT in Leicester
Can anyone recommend a trustworthy MOT test centre or garage in the Leicester area? We have an 11 year old Ford Ka in need of an MOT in the next few weeks. I'm aware of the council testing station, but am a bit wary in case they are too strict and it needs some work so I have to take it elsewhere anyway. Surely it would be…

Transfer of number plate no MOT
Does anyone know if it is at all possible to transfer a number plate to another car from an old car that has been sitting in a garage for years and obviously has no MOT? Reading the DVLA website it would seem the car must have an MOT or had one within the last six months. Am I correct in saying that before it can be…

Buying a new car by credit card
This is just a musing - I was looking at the limit on one of my credit cards, and thinking that it would easily cover the cost of nice new car from a showroom. I've bought 3 brand new cars outright in the past, (1995, 1998 and 2001), and recall that none of the dealerships would accept credit card for either the deposit or…

Hi Folks I am thinking of buying private number plates for my car. However, there seems to be quite a variety of them around. Hire car recalled early - potential refund of fuel?
My partner's car was in a small accident - other driver's fault which they admitted straight away. Their insurer was on the phone straight away, arranged for my partner's car to go in to have bumper replaced and a hire car was arranged. Partner took his car into the garage on Wed before Easter weekend, was given hire car…

More used car advice
I apologise in advance as I know this forum is already littered with posts reaching out for recommendations as to which used car to buy and I see similar recommendations bandied about but I wanted to pose a query of my own.
