Who signed for the letter, it should have a name as well as a signature.

assuming you have a receipt for the recorded delivery letter, your grandson should phone DVLA tomorrow and explain this. If they require it you can send them a copy of the receipt. If you look on the Royal Mail website you should be able to enter the details from the receipt and it will confirm that it was signed for.

Where was the letter sent? They don't normally go to DVLA but to the area where the points were imposed (as I know from bitter experience!)

I was also under the impression that if you didn't respond to letters the case was sent to court?
3 stone down, 3 more to go
  • yes it was royal mail, it tracked and has name
  • it went to dvla swansea but it was a different part that deals with points on your licence
  • does anyone know what he has to do to get his licence back, he is going to phone tomorrow and if i have to i will send a copy of the receipt
