MOT expired?
MOT runs for a full year, right? I am trying to buy my car tax online, but according to the website my car doesn't have a valid MOT. I can't find my old certificate, so have looked up the transaction on my bank statements from last year and have discovered that I paid for it on 04.04.2011. Surely the MOT should still be…

Anyone fitted parking sensors?
Hi, We've just bought the wife a second-hand Grand Scenic which is just a touch bigger than the Renault Clio she was previously driving - and she used to smack that into everything... So, looking at getting some after-market parking sensors to reduce the chance of her mashing it into everything. Anyone done this before?…

Don't know what to do for the best - problem with autmatic car + gearbox
I have a 51 plate Ford Focus. I paid £3,000 for it two and a half years ago. It had 99,000 ish on the clock then, and has 114,590 now. I love the car, but as with a lot of older cars, it's turning into a bit of a money pit. The cam belt was done when I bought it. I've had a lot of problems with the electrics, and have had…

I went for a driving assesment in Nov 2011- and lets cut a long story short, the recommended to me I drive an automatic with left foot accelerator rather than a manual They didn't tell me too, but I rang the DVLA to check I could still drive, and basically in the first instance I had to ask my GP-…

MPG Vs. Wheel/Tyre Size
Question. Which would be more economical: 15" alloy with 205/55r-15 or 17" alloy with 205/40r-17 I know the smaller the width of a tyre means more MPG due to lower rolling resistance, but what about the height of the tyre and the size of the alloy? Bonus question: 16” alloy with 205/50r-16 -or- 205/60r-16 Thanks!

Tyre Pressure Gauge
I am very sorry to post such a question but I am at my wit's end. My OH drives a Ford Fusion. How do I find an appropriate tyre gauge and can anyone tell me if there are resources out there (inexpensive!) to find out how to check the tyre pressure and what it should be? OH won't do it. Also, I am sorry to ask this as I do…

Why would the garage lie?
In the bangernomics thread a couple of weeks ago I posted that my Vauxhall Nova had failed its pre-MOT so I was selling it to a collector. I provided him with a list of faults that the mechanic had identified in the interest of honesty. The collector I sold my car to (whose business is about 140 miles away, and I fully…

Fowlers Motors Stoke - Keep Away
This thread is going to be very short for now as I am at work, but I am so angry with this company that is also known as Taxi Van and Truck Ltd. They have sold us a car that requires up to £4,000 spending on it. They do not return calls, ever and when I phoned them about the problem 4 weeks ago they said that it was not…

Congestion charge £60- Didn't even know of it?
Hi, REALLY naive question here but my girlfriend recently thought she had travelled through London avoiding the congestion charge. She has just had the bill for £60 being as she didn't pay it sooner/on the day. Is there no way of getting out of this being as she really did think she'd avoided it? Thank you.

Can anyone please recommend a good place to get brake pads/discs for a good price ?
Hi, My car needs two new brake pads and two new brake discs. I know that you can get tyres on-line cheaper sometimes than local suppliers but have no idea whether you can get deals for brakes on-line. Can anyone please advise me whether they are aware of any retailer/garage deals and on-line deals ? Many thanks.
