MOT expired?

MOT runs for a full year, right?

I am trying to buy my car tax online, but according to the website my car doesn't have a valid MOT. I can't find my old certificate, so have looked up the transaction on my bank statements from last year and have discovered that I paid for it on 04.04.2011. Surely the MOT should still be valid?
I had it booked in for one next Friday anyway, but wanted to sort my tax before the budget!

Is there any reason why it wouldn't show?

Thanks

I think that the rule is that the MOT must be valid on the start date of the new tax. Perhaps your MOT was slightly before the 1st of the month but only showed up on your statement on the 4th?

I went to get my road tax yesterday, also before the budget!, but I was not allowed to because my MOT runs out on 31.3.12 and therefore will not be valid on the 1.04.12 when the new tax starts from.

Could be the date shown on your bank statement is the clearence date, not the transaction date, I think it depends on the card clearence company that the garage use, I often find when checking my bank online that although the money has been asigned the transaction may not show for a couple of days, factor in a weekend and it could be 4 days, maybe your MOT expires the end of this month in which caseyou will not have a vald MOT on the day the new tax disc starts.

I would be booking an MOT now if I were you.

Thanks all so much, I ended up ringing VOSA and they confirmed that I do still have MOT, runs out on 31.03. It's booked in next week anyway, but am going to see if I can change it to tomorrow or Friday.

Thanks again - was majorly panicking as I thought I was driving with no MOT, so wouldn't have used the car again until it was sorted.
