Renault headlight
Hope this is the right place to put this query! I have a 2006 Renault Grand Scenic and last week the headlight bulb went. I bought a new bulb and OH said he'd put it in for me. As in matters of DIY and cars he usually makes Frank Spencer look well co-ordinated, I had my doubts, but agreed. Anyway long story short he got…

Buy a car just to retain full NCD or not...help
It's quite a complicated equation to work out the cost effectiveness and getting quotes data is a labourious hassle. I don't want a car but may need to drive to Spain with a van one day and it may prove cheaper in the long run to get the cheapest (most all round economic) car to maintain my full NCD. I would love to have a…

The roads are mainly two-way narrow winding A and B roads with a small stretch on a dual carriageway. Now I used to cycle 8…

Should I be concered - oil consumption
I have a 2002 1.2 8V clio. My Aunt had it previously from new so I know the full history of the car. It has only done 30k, and 19k when I got it 10 months ago. When I got the car the oil was very low so I topped it up since then it has been using about a 0.5L per 1000 miles. is this acceptable? there are no obvious leaks…

tax disc late
I'm hoping someone in here can help. My fiance renewed his car tax on time, but 2 weeks later they've failed to send out the tax disc. They're now saying that it will take another 5 working days to have one delivered and if he drives in that time it will be a police offence subject to a £1000 fine. This isn't fair, since…

Is the Fiat 500 really economical?
Hi, I bought a 58 Ford Fiesta 1.4 about 6 months ago, which I love. I drive on the motorway every weekday to and from my workplace, which is about 15 miles each way. I tend to drive at 60-65mph in an attempt to conserve fuel. I half-fill the tank every 4 days or so, which costs me £20-25 each time. Basically, I'd like to…

In January I was driving my partners car in the capacity of a named driver on the policy when a hire car steered into us on a roundabout. The damage to my vehicle was some very minor laquer abrasion so I decided not to press charges, but when the other driver took the car back to the hire company he claimed that we drove…

Handing Part Exchange in 3 months before replacement is due
Hi, First post :) We have just ordered a new car with a 3 month wait. The dealer wants our car next week in advance to sell on due to the current value as they say that the trade in value can't be fixed until the purchase date due to depreciation. I'm cautious because worse case the dealer could go bust before the car is…

Major problem with 11,000 mile nearly 2 year old Ka UPDATE POST 71
My DD bought a brand new (new shape) Ford Ka nearly 2 years ago, from the local Ford dealers. She had it serviced at just over 11,000 miles & nearly two years old (in other words very recently), not with Ford, but a local garage. Today it started miss firing, she took it back to where she had it serviced a couple of weeks…
