I have a w reg ford Ka which has done 69,000 miles and would like to get a polo. I have seen one for £3200 at a garage which i really like, just wanted to see if anyone would know roughly what price I may be able to get if i part exchange my ka? I know its dependant on many things, it is in pretty good condition but is silghtly rusty.
Any help at all would be great as I have no idea

How much MoT has it got?
My first guess is somewhere between £100 and £750 depending on condition and the MoT. Kas are notorious rusters.
Edit: checked autotrader. The cheapest ones without a major fault are £400-500.
Here's one without an MoT for £495 http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201109381262494/sort/priceasc/usedcars/price-to/1000/maximum-age/over_10_years_old/model/ka/make/ford/radius/1501/page/2/postcode/sp61ej?logcode=p
And here's a trader with a low mileage one with a decent MoT for £595

Then I suspect as a trade in it is probably worth about £2-300 plus any extra overtrade the garage will add as sweetener.0 -
cool. Is it easier to to haggle on the price of the car i want to buy or the price my car is worth? Thank you for your help

It's all about 'price to change' so it doesn't matter much to you. The garage may want to dress it up one way or the other for their purposes but that shouldn't concern you.
The question is 'What is the cash price taking into account my trade in?' If they say 'Your car plus £3000' then you need to haggle the £3000 figure eg 'I was thinking of my car plus £2000' etc. etc. Good luck.0 -
Can I ask the same question as the OP of a 2001 (Y) VW Beetle, 2.0L manual, 81,000 miles, very good condition. Tax and MOT until June.
Any guestimates what this would be worth in a trade in?Now totally debt free & it feels better than anything money can buy!
Next stop - savings pot for house deposit :j0 -

DO what I did for the OP. Look on autotrader to see what the they are going for in private sales;). You are likely to be offered slightly less than that as a trade in but it depends what you are trading against.0 -
