Standard/Cheap Day Return tickets
My local station has just had the new all singing/all dancing ticket machines installed on the platforms. A couple of days ago I wanted to go to Bristol on the 0923 train. The ticket office was, of course, shut at this ludicrously early hour on a weekday. On first examination, all I could get from the machine was a…

Hi all, I have read a lot about the rail tickets price increase, and some mention it is UK wide from 1st Jan. But someone told me FirstScotrail increases are later in the year, in which case I'd hold off until nearer the time before I renew my annual ticket. Can anyone advise for certain when the FirstScotrail increases…

Considering getting a car alarm - Microscan
Thinking of getting an alarm to stop people messing with my car and getting all excited over it. It may of course encourage kids, and adults who genuinely have with the mentality of kids, to mess with it more - I am hoping they don't want attention drawn to what they're doing (like other criminals), and the social pressure…

I need to travel from Preston to London in the morning and back in the evening on 19th March. I checked the Virgin and National Rail websites on Boxing Day - exactly 12 weeks in advance, when the tickets become available. How do I know when to change timing belt?
Hello, mechanic-savvy moneysavers. I have been reading about how to keep a car in good maintenance shape, and one thing I read got me worried: that if you fail to replace your timing belt and it breaks, that can kill the entire engine and total the car or at least be ridiculously expensive. I have been given a car for…
