speeding ticket + licence in maiden name please help
Hi,please move this if it is in the wrong forum.
Here goes:
I have aquired my first speeding ticket in 17 years of driving,Going 36mph in a 30mph zone(one of those roads that changes from 40 to 30 in a short stretch).
I am not disputing the fine although I would rather not have it + the points, but my problem is my licence,It is one of the old pink ones.
I was married in 2004,filled in the back jan 2006 to change my name but never got round to sending it off, what will happen when I have to send it off to get the points put on it,as reading the back you can be fined up to 1000 pounds(we both work part time and I cannot afford to pay 1000).
Can I say that I cannot find my licence, they will have records that I do have a licence(in maiden name)and sign the form in my maiden name,or send it off with the name change on the back(but it is dated jan 2006).
Please can anybody help,I am worried sick as I couldn't pay another 1000 pounds on top of the fine as well.

Can you change the "6" to an "8" easily (ie 2006 change to 2008)? Just a thought!:heartpuls Mrs Marleyboy :heartpuls

Just put it through the system and see what happens. I didn't update my address, so my registered details and licenc address were different, noone seemed bothered by it.Happy chappy0

Your maiden name is still the same, you didnt change your name and don't have to adopt your new name, I would fill in the form as per your licence and send it off, when you get it back then update it to the new photo card licence.
You do this by completing a form D1 from the post office and sending in a couple of photographs together with proof of name change, i.e marraige certificate, your points will transfer to your new licence.0 -
Hi,the only thing I am worried about is that I have filled in the box on the back to say that i have married and it is dated 2006,so they could say that I should have sent it off straight away and that I now go by my married name(all bills and bank accounts in married name just driving licence and passport not(haven't been away for 5 years))Mfit member no 13 original balance £44000

You could always argue that you were going to change to your husband's name, but then changed your mind and decided to keep things in your maiden name. No law (ATM) about changing your mind. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

Just send it off. You've committed no offence. You can call yourself what the hell you want as long as it's not for fraudulent reasons. You'll have to apply for a photo one anyway to get it back and at that point notify a change of name and provide the marriage certificate.0

hi amazamum, can you tell me what ou did and what the result of it was as I am in a similar situation
thanks0 -
I've recently been given 3 points for the first time in my life. Same situation as the original post (only I was doing 37:rolleyes: in what I thought was a 40 limit).
Sent off my "green" licence, worried that it had been showing the wrong address for 10 years.
Got it sent back with the 3 points scribbled in it.
Sent a SAE so it came back to the right place.
Make sure you photocopy it before you send it in.
