I've recently been given 3 points for the first time in my life. Same situation as the original post (only I was doing 37:rolleyes: in what I thought was a 40 limit).

Sent off my "green" licence, worried that it had been showing the wrong address for 10 years.

Got it sent back with the 3 points scribbled in it.

Sent a SAE so it came back to the right place :D.

Make sure you photocopy it before you send it in.

:rotfl: Good move sending the SAE! It is an offence to fail to notify the Secretary of State of a permanent change of address. You get 3 months, not 10 years! If it still has the wrong address on, you should really be sending it off ASAP. ;)
If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.

    Probably varies by police authority.
Nobody checked my insurance as far as I know.
I wrote them a lovely letter in mitigation too and got a standard reply saying I could go to court if I wanted to - I was hoping I might be the only pensioner put on a day's better driving course.
I did once get as far as Q'ing at the Post Office to get the forms for a new licence, with all the hassle of getting some pictures and paying a fee: "Sorry mate we've run out".

I got my provisional license when I was 17 & lost it, changed address 5+ times after that, then in 2004 I decided to learn to drive & sent off for a replacement with my (then) new address, got it no problem with no £1000 fine either.
    Winnings :D
