You have to buy it at the rates applicable on the day it starts - so it would have to start on 1st January to get the old rate. (The new rates start on 2nd)
  • New Rates start on the 3rd to correct the above poster.

You would need to buy it on the 2nd to get the old rates, but to be honest if its a weekly or monthly you would be losing 5 days and it wouldnt be worthwhile considering the difference.
For more then a month and yearlys it could well be worth it to have it start on the 2nd to get the old rates. Starting it on the 3rd or after will be the new rates.

I have been using my new West Yorkshire Bus only MetroCard, which is due to expire on 31/12/08 since 19/12/07. There is no valid from date on the ticket.

A general piece of advice. I obtained my ticket through a company scheme run by West Yorkshire PTE with the annual tickets discounted by 15% at the Dec 2007 fare. I paid £516.45 for my annual ticket ordered through my employers, from 2/1/08 the price for the same ticket bought by an individual will be £665.00. Both bus and rail fares are set to increase next week.

I work for a bank and we can also obtain interest free loans to cover the cost. I think that companies that are not financial institutions can also offer interest free loans for season tickets. I doubt that the rail companies offer discounts direct to companies for season tickets, but some local authorities certainly do. MetroCards can also be bought for rail travel within West Yorkshire.
  • I work for the railway and the prices increase on the 2nd with FGW so it would need to be purchased to start on the 1st for this years rate. We can only start it a week in advance normally, you would be better off popping into your local station to get the current and new prices so you can factor in whats better for you.

New Rates start on the 3rd to correct the above poster.

    Not according to Chiltern's website
  • Hmm my TOC have told me incorrect information then.

Plus the mobile and booking office ticket machines have been updated wrong. They still show old prices for the 2nd and new prices for the 3rd. Including Season tickets.
I suspect this will be updated in the next few days
