Spare Car Parts

Had my drivers wing mirror broken off car on christmas eve (Early xmas present!) Its smashed to pieces. Where's the best place to get one from? Car's quite old and I don't really want to spend much. Also where do you suggest i get it fitted?
Thanks:mad:

Depending on how old - & the make/model, you'll probably end up having to buy new from main dealer. Simply 'cos, so many of these will be damaged, that breakers probably won't have any!

Saying that, Google your make & spares, then you'll see lots sites you can register your needs, then they will call/mail you with their price & availability, from lots salvage dealers. - you might get dozens of calls, so be aware of this!

& again, depending on the car, you might find it's just a piece of plastic trim to lever off & 3 or 4 screws, to fit!

Otherwise, it'll be a crisp £20 note for the local repair garage.

  • I would try the following:
http://www.autobreakers.co.uk/ good company, reasonable prices. check on the website or give them a ring.

    Try e bay.

Quite often people just stick cars on there, say DO NOT BID and break them

Also, put a wanted ad on your local Freecycle group

Also, have a look in your local paper.

It would be helpful if you could list the type of car it is. If appearences are not important then you may find that any half decent externally fitted mirror will do the job

If the car is particularly old and you can get a spares/repairs example for say £100 and get it trailored home and have plenty of storage space and time to pull it to pieces, you'll learn how it comes appart (hence have an idea how to put it together) and have spares for any eventuality. When you're done sell it for scrap metal.
  • Car is ford fiesta S reg

They'll be common as muck then, any good scrappy will have one, also ebay. Also if you did really want a brand spanking new one, they're not too expensive straight from ford.
