Want to buy a banger-don't know where to start
Hi guys My husband has just come back fom the garage and said his engine has gone. It's going to cost to much to replace it so we've just about decided to get rid and get a new one. It's no use getting one with a warrenty from a showroom cos he wants to put biodiesil in it which would invalidate the warranty anyway, so…

Mercedes Benz 30 year paintwork warranty
I understand that all MB cars have a 30 year paint work warranty after 04/1998. I have an 09/99 MB E class that is showing some signs of rust. The car has not been serviced by MB for 4 years, although it has been regularly serviced elsewhere. Does anyone know the terms of this extended warranty as there is no documentation…

Find saftey info on new cars
Hi I`m looking at buying a new or nearly new small car, but want to be able to compare the saftety of them. Is there any website that will allow me to do this? Have been looking at city cars- but then thinkinhg I may be better off-safer in a larger car. Safety is important as i have 2 small children. thanks

Have insurance company unlawfully sold my car??
Hi, i recently posted a thread about HPi checks and how useless they were... Anyway, does anyone know if insurance companies have a governing body that they have to answer to? (like water comps have OFWAT and phone have OFTEL). Apart from going to a solicitor i can see no other way to complain about the insurance…

Where to start - selling my car.
I'm sure a similar question will have been asked before but a quick scan of the posts didn't reveal anything so here goes; I need to sell my car. From the proceeds I will help DD (18) buy her first car and the rest will go towards debt. I reckon my car is worth about 3k if sold privately but I have never done this before…

Further tuition for 17yr old just passed test
I am looking for some extra help for my son now he's passed, other than pass plus. Its mainly for safety reasons rather than reducing the insurance premiums. I am thinking along the lines of something with ROSPA but any recommendations would be a great help.

London Motor Show
Has anyone been? I went yesterday and was shocked at how poor it is! Then I realised why...ExCel only has 65,000 m2 space compared to the NEC at over 200,000 m2. Even the main halls at the NEC give 85,000 m2. Why on earth did they move it? Yesterday, it looked like the decision has mis-fired. The place was nearly deserted…

206 overheating problem?
I wonder if someone could advise me about something as I'm a little worried. About 2 weeks ago on a really hot day we took our S Reg Peugeot 206 out for a spin - we parked up for about 30 minutes (not in the shade) and then set off again, stopping about 5 mins later to admire the view. When I stopped the car this second…

Cheaper train tickets going through Didcot
Hi I commute regularly from Reading (Earley) to Bath. If I book a few weeks in advance, and know which train I'm going to get, it can be as cheap as £20.50 for 2 singles. But that ties you to specific trains - there's a £10 rearrangement fee if you end up having to take another. However, on or near the day, a normal return…

New car buying advice
How do! I'm looking for a new car. I've been running my current one for about 5 years now and it's getting a little tired, so, sadly I think I'll have to get rid. I've more or less settled upon a new Golf GT TDI 140 (which will be my third Golf, so I'm quite the fan ). Looking around, I think the best price which I…

Sneaky way to cancel a train
This is only relevant for the next hour or so. Take a look at the Stevenage departure board here. "Slow trains" to London depart every 30 mins. The 18:09 is running 30 mins late but the 18:39 is on time. Will two trains turn up at exactly the same time and follow exactly the same route OR do you think they've cancelled the…

Tesco's Petrol Voucher
Sorry if my very first message is a winge, but I spent £50 at Tesco and went to use my 5p off per litre petrol voucher, only to notice they've bumped up all the prices at my 2 local Tescos! On any other given week they're generally cheaper. I'm glad I use that petrol prices site after all. (also don't be fooled - not…
