Mercedes Benz 30 year paintwork warranty

I understand that all MB cars have a 30 year paint work warranty after 04/1998.

I have an 09/99 MB E class that is showing some signs of rust. The car has not been serviced by MB for 4 years, although it has been regularly serviced elsewhere.

Does anyone know the terms of this extended warranty as there is no documentation with the vehicle.

I would like to get all my 'ducks in a row' before contacting my local dealer.

This is a well known fault on the E class and MB know about it, i think you should have been having regular inspections at MB to keep the warranty ongoing. But I would deffo get on touch with the dealer and see what they say, play on the fact that this is supposed to be a quality car and shouldnt be rusting at this age if you get no joy there write to MB customer support. Check this website out, loads of people on here with the same problem as you.

Many thanks. TBH I am not expecting to get much joy, but the more info/ammunition I have the better my chances. Have tried the link, but no joy!

Strange the link didnt work, try this, you'll need to click on the bodywork section halfway down, then use the 'search this forum' box for 'rust' and you'll be surprised how much comes up.
