Mortgage withdrawn due to change in circumstances
I'm after some advice, please... Halifax withdrew our mortgage offer following a change in employment. My wife remains employed. However, my situation has changed from full-time employment to consultancy. I understand the bank can do this, but I wondered if there is any mileage in asking for a review as my wife has been…

Bank of England MPC meeting November 3rd 2022 - what are your predictions and how are you preparing
The next BOE MPC meeting is in two weeks time. Speculation is that base rates will rise even further which are likely to push up mortgage rates. What are your predictions and how are you preparing for any rate rises? https://www.bankofengland.co.uk/monetary-policy-summary-and-minutes/2022/november-2022

What one would you pick?
Had our mortgage broker tell us his findings for us, our fixed rate of 1.79% ends in April :( Either a 5 year fix with Virgin at 5.4% Or a 2 year tracker with NatWest at base rate plus 0.70% The fix will mean monthly payments of £450 a month more than the tracker at todays rate of course. I’m inclined to take a chance on…

What to do?
Currently on a tracker with nationwide which tracks 2% above base rate. So I'm thinking of switching rates. £72k left with 17 years to go. Best deals look like 5%~ for 2 years fixed or should I go 4.6~% for 10 years? Don't want stuck on my current plan if rates go up to 5%. Obviously no-one can predict the future but…

Personal Loan
Hi, I have a very small mortgage up for remortgage and I have savings that cover what’s owed. I want to keep my savings so I wondered if it is legal to take out a personal loan and pay the mortgage off. The personal loans I can get are at least a percent if not more cheaper than a fixed rate mortgage. I asked my bank and…

U-Turn on Mortgage Interest Rates
Recognizing that crystal balls are working very hard at the moment with the current economic climate and that it would appear most if not all the problems we now have stem from our new PM and ex Chancellor growth, growth, growth strategy....... Do you think that if our PM were to resign soon and things calm down that we…

Natwes apr
Was just about to fix in with our current mortgage supplier natwest, but now noticed they have put up their apr since the original offer was sent. It's nearly double to the original offer, so I'm really gutted about this and it's an increase of nearly £200 a month. Is there any point of calling them to see if they can help…

Remortgage September 2023 - what should I focus on?
So our 5 year mortgage deal will finish in September next year. We are currently on 2.19%, but obviously that will go up a lot once we have to remortgage. Our payments are already quite high and we will be paying until we retire, so I am dreading the interest hike next year. I am also worried about what deals we might…

Fixed rate finishing
Hello, I switched to a new 5 yr deal amidst the panic 2 weeks ago. That evening my bank, NatWest, duly put all the rates up significantly…so it felt like a good move…our current fixed rate doesn’t end until March, so I wanted to make sure we didn’t lose the deals on offer with our existing lender, which beat all the rest.…

Mortgage changes with new sale price?
Hi, I'm about 6 weeks away from completion my mortgage was offered and fixed in mid August so it's a good rate on today's standard. My homebuyer report flagged a few issues and I've been able to negotiate to get a slight reduction. My issue is will this be a straightforward amend on the current mortgage (tsb) or will it…

In negative equity and on a variable rate
I was a first time buyer in 2006 and took out an interest only mortgage for the first 2 years till my finances settled after purchasing my flat. Then the housing market crashed and I also lost my job. I was unable to remortgage as my property went straight into negative equity. My lender actual told me it was overpriced…

As the title says is this standard? I've not been able on Santander to overpay since June when I set up and paid for a new five year fix beginning on November 2nd I was worried as it's 2.59% they'd pull it but nothing yet so I should be OK... I'm just looking forward to overpaying again... more focused on a minimal…
