Which lenders offer offset mortgages?
Which lenders offer offset mortgages? We'd probably prefer tracker over fixed but we haven't made up our mind yet on that.I can't seem to find offset mortgages with the typical online mortgage comparison tools. The banks I know which do are: * First Direct: interest-only offset, but very expensive, especially the tracker -…

Mortgage Redemption
Our fixed rate is ending at the end of this month and we will be redeeming the mortgage. It seems that the process now is that the mortgagee (i.e. the bank) notifies HM Land Registry that the charge can be released. Has anyone experience of this and/or idea of timescale? Thanks

Has anyone had any experience with letting a room out to a lodger or renting on AirBNB?
This a spin off topic to the 'How are people actually coping with mortgage payments increasing?' thread. I have a 2 bed flat and live alone in a part of London. I could rent out my spare room to a lodger. My flat is also slap bang between two very popular hotels and close to a third so there is an option to rent out as an…

Is it crazy to buy a house right now?
As title really. Is it a stupid idea to even contemplate buying a house right now? Assuming you’ll need a mortgage. My situation is that I don’t have to buy right now but I’d really prefer not To stay where I am. I am conscious of all that is happening and wondering if people would deem it stupid to buy now, unless you…

Ditch and Fix?
Hi. My current deal with Halifax expires May 23, so I can move to a new rate with them from Feb 23 with no charges. However, I can switch now and pay £800 repayment charge. Currently paying 3.19% and offered a new 3 year fix at 3.69%. This is by far the cheapest I have seen. Will increase monthly payments by £20 per month.…

Mortgage offer is it a hard search?
Hi everyone, So I’ve seen on the forum that some people are applying for mortgage offers as they are valid for 3-6 months so could potentially be a good thing in the current climate if the existing mortgage is coming to an end. Mine is up Apr 23 (so can switch from Jan with current lender) but I just secured an agreement…

Poor Experience
I used L&C brokers to arrange my remortgage because MSE recommend them. L&C initially handled my mortgage application ok, but I was soon unhappy as delays in the process led me to lose a 3.5% deal and I then had to settle for 3.74%. Expensive. L&C then handled the next stages of my application ok, but once my application…
