Offset Mortgage
Hello, Our fixed rate mortgage expires in February. We'll have an outstanding balance of £113k and term of 13 years. We are fortunate enough to have more than that in savings but I feel uneasy (I don't know why?!) about just paying off the mortgage and considering getting an Offset and offsetting the full amount. Looking…

Help to buy and structural alterations
Hello- has anyone made structural changes to a house they have a help to buy loan on? I am aware it will be declined as it isn’t for a medical reason, the guidance states that I will have to return the house to how it originally was, or pay the loan. My question is does this mean the loans will need to be paid in full…

Remortgage process and old lender charges
Hello, We're finally approaching our remortgage to a different lender. The fix deal expires this month so we can move to a different lender without paying ERC from 1st of October. On the redemption statement, the current lender charges us the monthly fee again on the 1st of October plus the interest for the previous month.…

What happens at remortgaging?
I’ve recently bought my first house and my plan had been to regularly overpay by a few hundred, and also throw in anything that is ‘extra money’ eg work bonus/ birthday money etc. but my savings interest is higher than my mortgage (1.81 vs 1.63) so I’ve been saving them in my savings account. My mortgage rate is fixed til…

In the fortunate position of being able to overpay mortgage a few hundred pounds a month. Tracker rate mortgage
Just wonder what everyone thinks? I'm currently on a lifetime tracker rate mortgage which is 1.89 above base. I think this is quite good for a tracker and as it's lifetime I don't have to keep paying arrangement fees. As interest rates are expected to rise even further I've been considering fixing for a few years to stop…

Situation is we moved around 2 years ago and shortly after moving (ported mortgage over) we fixed for 2 years. This expires end…

Potential mortgage doom - What to do?
We took out a 5 year fix which is due to expire Sept 23. We owe £205k @ 2.79%, repayment, 28 years left. In the interim period since we bought the house, we've started a family and Mrs isn't working (and honestly child care cost exceeds earning potential). So it's on me. We're in that funny point where at renewal we get 3…

Deeply regret not getting 5 year fix
Hi everyone Not sure there’s anything practical I can do about this, but just wanted to pour out my worries My partner and I recently bought a house with a large mortgage (£150k joint income, £720k 34-year mortgage, 72% LTV). We decided to fix at two years for 2.69%, as frankly we were scared of the ERCs in case we changed…
