Is it possible? Which lender(s) would allow a purchase by one party of a married couple?

Halifax is definitely fine with this (I was the one with the bad credit history in our couple). If I remember correctly, as per my broker some high street banks don't like it, especially if it's due to your partner having a bad credit history.2

@ed-1 Generally speaking, lots of mainstream lenders have no issue with one half of a married couple applying in their sole name.
A few (Nationwide is one example) will consider as long as it isn't due to an adverse credit file. Some lenders will have a policy that it's subject to the specifics but will be ok as long as it isn't due to adverse history or it looks like the applicant is trying to 'game' the system.
Specific lenders may also have differing policies on whether or not they will allow the non-borrowing spouse to contribute to the deposit.Ed-1 said:Is it possible?
