My ex won’t sign the iD1 but has been bought out.
I split up from my ex and at the time the mortgage was in his sole name even though I contributed half to all bills and expenses. We have a child but separated over 3 years ago. I stayed in the family home and Paid the mortgage and all bills from the day he left and received no monies from him by way of maintainability for…

Barclays Springboard Mortgage Application & Timelines
I am currently going through hell with Nationwide (partly because our broker is a joke, secondly because they're so busy their timelines are just getting unreasonable for us). We are concerned we'll lose the house we're buying as the Nationwide process is taking so long, and so have looked into the Barclays Springboard…

TSB, valuation before/after underwriters?
Hello, just a quick question please as my nerves are getting to me a bit. We'd previously applied for a mortgage through Natwest but were declined during the underwriting process. We are now applying with TSB through a broker. We submitted our application a week ago and we've been given a date for a valuation on the…

Equity Release
My parents took an equity release in 2006 and the interest rate is 6.2%. Whilst the amount of equity released was minimal the amount owed is now quite substantial. The company has been contacted for advice on how the interest rate can be reduced and the only option available is to take out another equity release and pay…

We earn 24k and 26,5k so total annual income is £50,500. We are considering to get things going this year as we have the deposit ready but I'm…

Mortgage when Part Exchanging on New Build
Can anyone explain to me the process of getting a mortgage when you're part exchanging on a new build? E.g. how much do we need to apply for on the mortgage? The deposit for the bank would be coming from the sale of our current property so how do we access that if the developer is buying our property? Does the developer…

Until when can you pull out?
Long story short, my partner and I have applied for a mortgage, the application is taking way longer than expected and in the meantime the circumstances have changed, therefore we are thinking about pulling out. I'm pretty positive in thinking that there is no problem in withdrawing our mortgage application. But can we…

Joint purchase, solo mortgage scenario
Hello all, Buying a property with my partner. We’ve found one on
the market for £800,000- both aren’t first time buyers. Her parents are wealthy
and don’t what her to get a mortgage, and have agreed to put £300,000 towards
the purchase (she will then pay them back as it’s a loan). Therefore we want
both names on the title…

Is the Financial Ombudsman the last recourse to a dispute with the bank
We didn't react within the 'agreed' timescales established between the Financial Ombudsman and the banks for warnings that the policy was failing. That doesn't negate that the endowment mortgage wasn't fit for purpose at the outset. The bank will not consider our complaint, can we consider litigation?

I'm Confused ++ Re Endowment
My plan is a 'Mortgage Repayment Plan' under the old Halifax Life team, taken over by Scottish widows. There are 3 funds - balanced, opportunity and foundation, all in equal proportions. I've been paying around £90 each month for the last 25 years; they buy units on my behalf. When it comes to selling the units, who…

Help to Buy Authority to exchange amendments - strange requests?
Hi Amidst all the current delays, I was issued with my ATP back in August. Applied for my ATE, and it was rejected for an amendment of my mortgage offer being rounded down by £1 as they only issue mortgages in multiples of £5s 🙄 Resubmitted and went to bottom of the pile where I then had to get another ATP. I’m now 45 days…

Mortgage for company director on PAYE (sub £100k salary)
Howdy! So I am in a bit of a never-ending circle here, any helpful advice is welcome! HMRC do not consider me to be self employed as I'm limited company director (with 70% shareholding) but I get paid via payroll and so don't have any requirement to complete self-assessment unless I earn more than 100k on PAYE or take more…

New 21-23 Help to Buy Scheme
Hi all, I'm hoping this will be a relatively straightforward question, and apologies if it's been asked before: With regards to the new Government Help to Buy scheme ongoing from April 2021 - March 2023; I'm in the West Midlands and so the cap will be £255,600. Will this mean we cannot use H2B if we want to purchase a,…

Default and mortgage
Been declined a mortgage as a joint application but husband has got an AIP on his own. The o LG thing we can think of is a default on my credit file for £308. It was registered 6th Jan 2018 and satisfied in full July 2019. Will this affect us getting a joint mortgage until it drops off after 6 years or is there a point…
