Nationwide First Mortgage Payment
We're first time buyers (please be nice) and recently took out a mortgage with nationwide. Our funds were released on 29/07/2016 and our completion date was 01/08/2016. We presumed our first payment would be taken on 01/09/2016 and would be slightly higher due to interest. We had a payment deducted on 19/08/2016 which was…

Broker/Developer Relationship
Hi All, Currently in the process of buying a new build and wondered if anyone else had any thoughts on using the developer suggested mortgage broker. We did go with the broker suggested by the developer and don't have any major complaints, he's been responsive and quick, hit all the timescales he'd promised and took us…

Moving to a new build - managing mortgage timescales?
Hi all, I am in a situation whereby there is a new build development underway in my local village. However, the plot we have earmarked won't be ready until Dec'17/Jan'18. Selling our place ASAP and being 'ready' would obviously ensure we're in as strong a possible as possible when the development is completed. Without any…

Can I stop using a Mortgage Advisor with an application in progress
Hi there This weekend I've been thinking over things and the progress of my house purchase. I used a mortage advisor due to me not having much of a credit record. Since the start the advisor has been very unresponsive. I'm very patient and do not like nagging, but I've never felt that he has acted in my interest or has he…

Clean credit file but DDs showing on account for old credit arrangements
Hi all My partner and I are just about to begin the process of remortgaging. Both credit files are clear, but in 2006, a former partner left me with a lot of debt that I sorted arrangements on and still pay now. They do not show on my credit file. The DDs for them come from my bank account, whereas all money and bills go…

Childcare vouchers and mortgage
How much do childcare vouchers affect the amount banks are willing to lend for mortgages?? I'm due back to work in December and was going to start using the full allowance available to me. But having played around with the Santander affordability calculator it seems that we would be better off not using them even though it…

Absolute shambles from broker's side... unsure where I stand!
So as the title suggests, my mortgage application has turned into absolute shambles thanks to the mortgage company I've been going through - unsure if I'm allowed to name them so I won't. They have singlehandedly caused a number of unnecessary delays thanks to poor correspondence and miscommunication. Started off all good,…
