Thinking hard about remortgaging to TSB on one of their 10 year fixes with no ERC after 5 years. Just wondering how they are generally as a lender? Our case should be fairly straightforward.

FTB (but technically a home owner) question..
First post on MSE! I'm looking to apply for my first mortgage at some point this year.. Last year my mum transferred ownership of her house to me and my sister. I know that this now excludes me from the help to buy scheme but was wondering if this could help me at all to secure a mortgage?

Use capital gain to pay-off HTB EL in year 6?
We're looking at properties up to 300k, with a 20% deposit, 20% HTB EL and 60% mortgage. I know the EL is interest free for 5 years after which becomes 1.75% adjusted for RPI. Obviously this becomes a concern as it would add a further £300 to our monthly mortgage payments. Question: Assuming our new home could appreciate…

What happens when your buy to let mortgage runs out?
Hi all, My husband took out a buy to let mortgage with his father in 2006. In 2016 it is due to end. It is interest only. The house was bought for £137,500 but is worth 10k LESS at the moment with no signs of improving soon. Will HSBC just let him and his dad sign up a new contract or do you have to give the house back? No…

Any cases of lenders' surveyors "over" valuing?
So let's say I offer 100k for a property, the mortgage lender instructs a valuation survey and they value the property at 150k. Would lenders ever do this? Would the additional 50k be considered in LTV calculations? If so, could the borrower qualifier for a cheaper rate?

Early Repayment Fees for Existing Nationwide Customers
When it comes to early repayment charges on mortgages in Oct 2014 Nationwide tried to make this fairer (statement on the Nationwide website dated Oct 2014) BUT it is only fairer for new customers - old customers have to put up with old rates. I for example have to pay 5% early repayment on a mortgage deal ending in 2016 -…

The title deed etc to my unmortgaged home is in my partners name only, however we want to change it to my name only (seeing as it's me that paid the deposit and the mortgage). No argy, bargy or falling out, just a simple transfer of the asset. The solictors are asking an eye-watering amount…
