Survey before mortgage

I am looking to move home and will be getting a new mortgage as the one on the property am selling is coming to an end.
I am looking to go with Virgin Money however I am unsure when to arrange for my surveyor to look at the property I am buying.
Do I arrange for my surveyor to conduct the structural survey and then apply for the mortgage where Virgin then do their quick valuation survey?
