Insurance monthly is not seen as borrowing. I have Esure car insurance and doesnt appear on any of my reports. You are paying for a service and not received anything ie credit card or loan. If you stop paying your monthly premium they stop your cover - simple as.

Banks have a right to do further checks until the monies are released. For example if they send the money and for whatever reason the sale is held up for say couple of weeks and sent back to Santander then they will do another credit check before the money is re-released. It has happened and not worth the risk to be honest.

Have you shopped around for quotes rather than take the renewals??? Try a comparison site. If you do get a cheaper quote but would rather stop with current then ring them up and tell them been offered cheaper and would stop if matched or for eg gave you 0% interest on the payments.

You wuill be amazed what deals they can offer if you challenge the renewal.
