HSBC not understanding Shared Ownership
Hi, A friend is buying a new build shared ownership property. They are buying a 60% share. And will have a 10% deposit for that share (i.e. 6% of total price). I found the best rate at the time was a 3.59% 2 year fixed for HSBC, (90% LTV). The closest rivals were Nationwide at 4.19%. They've come back and said he could get…

Mortgage when earning less than 10k?
Is it possible to get a mortgage when earning less than £10.000 per year? If I multiply my income by 4 then there is lots of choice of houses in my area, (I'm look at houses between 20-25k), I would have at least 90% deposit, and could afford the repayments. However with my low income would getting a mortgage be impossible?

I've been reading this forum for a while now, and I always hear the usual when people give advise, do you have defaults, missed payments, ccj's etc. But why does no one ask, have you gone over your credit card limit, did you make the minimum payment, have cash advances, take out pay day loans? As these things seem to have…
