Hi everyone,
After messing around with Santander/Abbey for a number of weeks we have been advised by our broker to move to Halifax. We are buying on the Help to Buy scheme.
Today I paid the valuation fee to my broker and she keyed in our application. I am wondering if anyone has any recent experiences of Halifax's mortgage process and how quick their turnaround is?
Do they send the valuer out quickly?
How long do you have to wait to receive your mortgage offer after a successful valuation report?
Any advice/information is greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
G

We are using Halifax, the valuation survey was conducted within a week of the submission of our application form. Survey results back within a week, key facts illustration a couple of weeks later & official mortgage offer week after that. All done within 4 to 5 weeks (starting early June). So far so good with regards Halifax as far as we are concerned.0

Thank you Pushkin, that's good to hear!
We have gone through a broker and she assured us that Halifax are far more efficient than Santander.
We are so sick of this process now and are so ready to move. Wish we had gone with Halifax from the very beginning.
Did you pay a valuation fee?Nervous first time buyer!0 -
don't you normally receive the KFI before the full application?0

next day myn was doneDon't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0

I switched from Santander to Halifax after 10 weeks of waiting and nothing happening.
My experience with Halifax has been stress-free compared to Santander.
Again, wish I'd just gone with Halifax in the first place!
I'll add that after the ten weeks of waiting, my valuation/homebuyers was completed within 4 days with Halifax (including a weekend!) of me applying with Halifax, and getting offer/homebuyers report in my hand was less than 2 weeks0 -
GG we paid £680 for valuation fee, but get that refunded if (when!) we complete. Good luck.0
