Can someone please explain the best way to obtain a mortgage for a property in the USA. Is it better to obtain a mortgage from the USA or from the UK. I have found various companies from the UK who help you navigate this process but I was wondering if anyone had some advice or guidance please.:)

If I got a house built, paid for the land, designer, materials and paid the people to build it. Do I still have to get a mortgage and pay a mortgage on it ? or is the fact I've paid for the building of it enough ?
