How likely is it that I'll be added to the mortgage next time around?

My OH and I decided to buy a house together only when we applied for a joint mortgage we were turned down as I wasn't working and had two children dependant on us. He also has two children which he pays maintanance for. So, leaving me off the mortgage he was accepted by nationwide as a sole application and we moved into this house. This however has left me in a vulnerable position as I now have no claim on the house in which I'm paying towards the mortgage and upkeep for. There is no deed of trust in place and no will protecting me.

Now, my partner says that once the two years intro offer is up, he has to re--apply for a better rate? well - is it worth me trying to get on the mortgage now? I'm earning £21k but have only very recently started this job. Otherwise, should there be something in place protecting my position in the house? OH says the £2k savings we have (in an isa in my sole name) are my protection but it's hardly the same thing is it!

See a solicitor or go to the Citizens Advice Bureau for an explanation of your rights.

Being on the mortgage is not a solution in itself.

Are you married - if so you will have a claim on the hpuse regardless of the name on the deeds etc as it is a marital asset

You are going to get almost exactly the same responses as last time you recently asked the question.

I think you are talking/asking the wrong people. You need to front this indoors and then take appropriate action.

    Not married.

Dave it's difficult to confront it indoors. I know I basically need a deed of trust setting up to protect what I've contributed but if I mention it to him, he turns it into an argument saying I'm being awkward and threatening him.

A response like that would make me even more worried about my financial security.

Mojisola, exactly. It was just a small niggle at first but since the arguments have gotten so frequent and the fact that he kicks off if I mention deed of trust I've become really, really concerned and don't know which way to turn. I've made sure my mortgage contributions come out of my bank with the reference "MORTGAGE (and postcode!)" on them and I've ensured that I'm responsible for the tv license for this address so that it's in my name. Therefore if it went to court I could argue that I contributed but I'm still not guaranteed their favour am I.

Communication with him re this issue appears to be a sore point, I would worry about that. Take yourself to Citizens advice on your own and find out what steps you need to take, you have to protect yourself, you could lose out and this could be very costly if he gets nastly. Take care. :)
