How long to trace a CHAPS transfer

Please can anyone let me know how long it should take to trace a CHAPS payment. It was sent on the 17th April but I never received it so the bank started a trace on 23rd April but never said how long it will take just the usual "we will let you know" but as yet I have heard nothing. They said the account number and sort code were right.
