Mortgage problem, looking for solutions
Hi, I'm looking for a flash of inspiration! We are trying to buy a house but hitting brick walls when it comes to a mortgage. We have 10% deposit but my husband doesn't earn enough for the whole mortgage, and history wise, the credit rating is a little wonky (small business recession victims!) In order to be able to buy…

Coventry Mortgage Application delaying exchange!
Hello Not sure if anyone can give me any advice - might be more of a general rant! The buyer of my house is a FTB and applied for a Coventry mortgage about 7 weeks ago - and still no offer. The valuation was done almost immediately, and the last I heard the application was having a final review last Friday. But still…

Will my poor credit history stop my husband getting a mortgage?
I have some old defaults (now settled) on my account from 2008 my husband doesn't have any. We want to buy our home through right to acquire however I know my chances of getting a mortgage would be slim so he was going to get a mortgage on his name only but would my defaults stop him getting on? Looking at a 50k mortgage.

ERC back in 2007
Would anyone be able to tell me how to find out what the ERCs were on a 10 year fixed rate mortgage with Abbey back in 2007. I have lost the paperwork which stated this & have a feeling Santander have me on a different scale of charges for this. I also do not trust Santander to send the original paperwork if it differs…

Valuation
Applied for our mortgage at the end of May via a broker, chased him up again yesterday to get told " Don't worry, the developers aren't chasing yet, and the valuation should be instructed tomorrow, if my previous case submitted to them is anything to go by" 1. I don't give a flying **** if the developers aren't chasing, we…

Do lenders just get the valuation or whole report?
Hi, ftb with a simple question. We opted for a homebuyers report, will the surveyor just send the lender the valuation report or the homebuyers report. If just a valuation report, is it safe to say they will produce and email this report to the lender quicker than they send me the homebuyers?

Lenders with their own conveyancers
I've noticed that some lenders have their own conveyancing panel, and if you have a conveyancer that isn't on their panel, you end up paying twice, once for your own and once for theirs. Do I have that correct? Skipton is the most notable example I've seen, and in Scotland they seem to have a grand total of one…

Change to mortgage application
I got an agreement in principal a few weeks ago for an 80K mortgage on a 100K property.... Went shopping and found a flat, offered £96k and the offer was accepted. I've just completed the mortgage application online, but was surprised it didn't ask for any confirmation of the property purchase price or deposit amount. The…

NW approve mortgage, solicitor says add middle name, NW recheck & decline mortgage. P
Some months ago Nationwide approved my girlfriend for a mortgage, 15% deposit. They issued all paperwork and did the house valuation etc. They were asked to add her middle name to the mortgage offer, they rechecked her and have now turned her down as she no longer meets the 'score'. The sale has been dragging on because of…

Mortgage on PhD stipend ?
Just wondering if anyone knows of any lenders who will take a PhD stipend into consideration for a mortgage. My son will have the stipend which is tax free and his girlfriend is a teacher. How do I tell my mortgage broker I'm ditching him?
I'm a first time buyer, and two of my friends who have recently bought their first homes themselves advised me against using a broker who charges fees. I realise this is a bit of a sticky subject on this boards, BUT I tend to agree with them on this. Today I went to meet with the mortgage broker the housing association…
