Does being pregnant/having dependants effect how much you can borrow?

Hi,
We are currently hoping to start a family and also hoping to buy within the next year. The mortgage calculators I've look at all want to know whether we have dependants (we don't at present).
I was wondering if anyone knew what effect (if any) this will have on how much we can borrow?
Will being pregnant effect an offer also? (I'm the higher earner and more likely to work full time after the baby comes with DH possibly going part time but we're not sure yet).
Thanks in advance

Pregnant no.
On maternity leave will with some lenders.
Dependents yes. This will affect affordability.
As the impact of each issue is different, I can say no more than ask your lender and play with its online affordability calculator to see the impact.I am a mortgage broker. Hi,
Sorry for thread jacking a little.
My partner is pregnant (and its starting to show). We are already in the process of arranging a mortgage, do we have to tell the mortgage lender? Is it fraud if we do not?
We can comfortably afford the payments (but lenders may not like this) while on maternity leave.
Is anything likely to happen if the lender found out?0 -
Helpme 1 i got my mortgage from halifax just about to exchange im on maternity and am applying on my own due to partners bad credit. Mine seem fine with me being on maternity so i wouldnt worry to much about your partner. Though diffrent lenders say diffrent things so i would check first.
And becs it affects how much you can borrow try putting in no dependeds and then one dependent on the online calculator and see the diffrence.0
