Porting SVR
Hi, I've just been told by Halifax that they will not ever port a mortgage on SVR and that I will need to take out another product to port. They will not guarantee that they will port it after I have taken it out. This seems slightly unfair, if I take out the new product and they will not port it do I have a case for mis…

Taking a loan to make up a deposit
Hello, We are saving hard for a deposit. After getting some advice at the bank today, we can borrow what we need for a £250k house, but the decent interest rates are for 80% LTV and under. At the mo we have got 11k saved and saving about £1200 a month, so a 10% deposit is not too far away. But a 20% will take a lot longer…

I have a mortgage with Nationwide accepted in Jan, but I had around 70% LTV so think this had an impact. I'm thinking of getting a mortgage of around…

To fix or track....that is the question
I'm sorry that this is an obvious crystal ball question, but our sums now mean it is better to ditch and switch a 5.69% fixed rate. The burning question is, do we go for a tracker and enjoy the benefits that we've missed so far, or do we re-fix on a better rate? I know one provides stability and one doesn't, but to be…

Non standard Mortgages
Hi, can someone please advise I want to change mortgage lender and deal. But my circumstances have changed whilst in my current mortgage deal. I bought my house in 2006, since then my income has halved, which is quite uncomfortable when paying the mortgage. My circumstances have changed drastically, but I can still pay my…

Transferring mortgage
I don't have the best of credit scores and am looking to downsize to a cheaper house to pay debts. The house price range I am looking at would keep my mortgage size the same but would actually reduce my LTV to 70-75%. I would not be changing mort company. I would hope they allow this as the LTV would be lower and there is…

Avoiding legal fees?
Good evening all, I'm having a nightmare with Santander currently. I'm attempting to do a change of borrower (simply remove someone from the mortgage), I have had the offer approved by the Bank but they won't action it without me paying a lawyer to do the paperwork ... I've spoken to the Lang Registry and downloaded all…

Mortgage Advice Needed - Credit Check failed unexpectedly!
Hi, I went to see my Woolwich mortgage advisor today to put an application for a property I had an offer accepted on Tuesday. I have had an AIP from them previously, but we didn't do a credit check then because I had a pre-approval amount from them as I have banked with them for 3+ years. When we got to the credit check…
