Why not pay off all of your mortgage?
I have heard Martin state that it is sensible to keep a nominal £100 remaining on your mortgage and then convert to an interest only mortgage costing a few pounds a year. Why is this sensible? I can see that it keeps your title deeds safe and secure at a small cost and that having a mortgage is used in part by lenders to…

Is it possible to change the account from which your mortgage repayments are made? OH and I have applied for mortgage, but hadn't sorted out opening a joint account yet, so filled out the DD form so the payment will come from my current account. I would prefer that this came from a separate account which would both pay…

Release of house deeds
I recently paid off my mortgage and had to pay an additional £50 to get my deeds back or they would be destroyed. I paid the money but surely this can't be fair, ie. £50 just to retrieve my deeds from my file and then post them. Does anyone know the legality of this ridiculously high charge?

Mortgage - pay off with a loan
Hello All We have managed to get our mortgage down to £26,600. We're currently paying 6% but I think we worked out that it would be more expensive to change to a lower rate with another lender because of fees etc. We still have just over 15 years to run on it. We pay £230 a month, which includes overpayments, and we also…
