I've heard that Northern Rock will consider people on some benefits for mortgage purposes & possibly Nationwide.

High street lenders no longer take income support or other means tested benefits into consideration as income for mortgage purposes though, so if your income includes IS it won't count.

Is your mortgage a repayment one? If so perhaps you could consider going interest only for a while to help. Although if you're near to retirement & have no nice company pension to look forward to lenders may not like that idea.
The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.

I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.
