Morgage V debt
Hi all Just registered today and hoping someone can help me out. I'll try and keep it short and sweet. When i was at uni i racked up just under £2,800 in debt, to a bank (overdraft) and 2 credit card companies. Basically i ignored there letters and had debt collectors letters (in the hundreds) sent to me. However i went…

Estate agent mortgage advice - any use ?
hi We have put an offer in for a property & our C&G 5 year discount rate comes to an end in July. Spencers (the EA) have tried to interest us in their in-house adviser and apparently they can get "preferential" deals with some mortgage providers. Can anyone advise on this ? thanks swayzak

second mortgage reclaim? first national, now GE money
i took out a first national 2nd mortgage in june 2004 for £25,500, when i sold my house in june 2005, my redemption was 25099.78, so i managed to pay off £400.28 pence in 12 months despite paying £3174.20 in the same time, i think the settlement admin fee and setltlement interest are a bit steep and i am going to try and…

Mortgage Arrangement fees
Mortgage arrangement fees surely these must be illegal? I cannot see how the banks can go round charging these, they just feel criminal. One pays £2.46 for every £1.00 and yet they still want to charge a mortgage arrangement fee? How do they justify this cost?

FTB Mortgage Advice
I've read loads of threads on here over the past few weeks, so hopefully my question won't be too basic! I'm currently attempting to buy a house with my other half. Between us we earn £41k p/a, no bonuses. She has a student loan left to pay, which is about £7k I think, but due to her salary she has paid very little of it…

1 Year Mortgage?
Hi All We are buying a house for £470,000 and the buyer has forced our hand (yes, we love the new house that much) to exchange before we have sold our current property at £400,000. We have savings amounting to £400,000 which we could dip into. We would like a mortgage for X amount to enable us to buy the new house, and as…

Re-mortgage fees
We re-mortgaged in Feb 2004 we entered into a 2 year fixed rate with the C&G at 4.99%, when that came to an end we asked the C&G if they would provide us with another deal and we agreed to stay with them on a 3 year deal at 5.29%. We were charged an abmin fee of £199.00 for changing to the new deal, this seems to me to be…

Will I get a mortgage?
Myself and my girlfriend of 15 years have decided to split (her choice) anyhow, basically I've decided the best option would be to try to buy her out of our house. We have a house valued at 175k which 100k is mortgaged. We have joint debts of around 45k (cars, loans etc) now, my thinking is. If I can raise a mortgage of…

2 Yeard Deal Due To End - Where Do I Start?
I'm useless when it comes to anything legal like this. If I start from the beginning it might make more sense. 2003 we (my partner & I) took out a 100% joint mortgage, on a fixed 2 year deal at 5.39% with Nat West. 2 years ago I renewed another 2 year fixed deal with Nat West at 5.15%, which is due to end next month, so,…

Mortgage help please
I am hoping that someone will be able to help me. I have found a property I like and received a mortgage in principle from Alliance and Leicester. Underestimation on Mortgage Valuation?
Just wondering if this is worth following up. We're in the process of remortgaging with C&G and on their application form we have put our property value as £240000. This is based on an EA valuation when we were thinking of selling earlier this year. When we had our offer through yesterday it states value of our property as…
