alliance and leicster

not sure if im in the right forum here so please feel to move if need be

i currentley have my mortgage with alliance and leicster and i overpay on a regular basis. a&l statement policy is 6 or 12 months and i think im on the later. or there is a cost if you request one in between.
i smoke and im planning on giving up and to help me do this i want to overpay every week by what i save of my cigs(20 a day).
and i know if im able to see my morgate being overpayed by in excess of £40 a week i will stay of the cigs

sorry for the speil above but my question is does a&l have any facility that will let me see my mortgage balance/overpayments online. as i can t seem to see one on the website. as if i cant see it and have to wait 12 months for a statement i cant see me stopping smoking or keeping up the overpayments

any help would be greatley appreciated

Well done on the decision to stop smoking.

There are a number of way's to tackle this.

Ask A&L if your mortgage rate is calculated on an Annual Rest, Monthly or Daily.

If on an Annual rest, ask them to transfer your mortgage to a monthly rest in writing. You may find that A&L will send you statements more regularly than every 6-12 months if you are prepared to pay for a monthly one.

Onother way would be to save the money in an account that you can see accumulating and then pay this figure into the mortgage account at the end of the year.

    Hope this helps.
