Hi, My partner and I want to buy our first home this year. However my credit rating is awful and I am un-likely to get a mortgage until July/August. My partner already has a mortgage offer so it's looking ever more likely that he will be buying the house alone.. Do joint mortgages exist for couples in this situation or is…

This is due to my partner losing his job last year and money being very tight. We are now slightly more sorted out and have repayment plans organised. We would like to move house…

Self Cert
Hi I moved house just over a year ago on a self cert 2 year fixed with HBOS. The fixed interest rate will revert back to SVR in January 2008. I found the mortgage through a broker originally at an 80% LTV. Very soon after I moved my circumstances changed and I'm now earning under half of what I was when I applied, if I…

should we make a top-up payment to our mortgage?
My partner and I have some money saved up which we would like to invest, and we wondered whether using it to top up our repayment mortgage would be a good idea or not. Quick question...
I remortgaged yesterday. A dd has come out of my bank today for the full mortgage payment to the old mortgage. Will they refund some of this as I assume you pay a month in advance? I know about the payment to the new lender being larger at first so hoping I will get some of this back to recoup my losses!

Reservation fees
I've just been looking at Nationwide mortgages. I always keep an eye on them as they are who I am with and my fixed rate is up next April. I have all my accounts with them and have done so for years, so is something like what is below good for me, ie. no reservation fee. Does any other banks do this? Is this likely to be a…

Do not use London and Country Mortgage Brokers
Just thought I would warn folks about these bunch of cowboys. Am currently using them and they are the worst service providers I have ever come across. They are extremely slow, constantly make stupid errors and NEVER reply to emails or pick up the phone once you have an AIP. They are good when it comes to getting new…

excessive arrangement fees
A little while ago there were threads on these fees. I seened to be out of tune with most of the other brokers who didnt share my view that it was unethical and nearly impossible to compare mortgages for the client with these fees. This has appeared in the authoritive mortgage strategy magazine. I wonder how long before…

How will this affect a mortgage app?
I got a call from RBS last week saying that I had defaulted on my current account and owed them £530. This was quite a surprise as I haven't touched my RBS account for about 5 years. It turns out that my account was changed to a royalties gold account about 2 years ago and therefore a £12 monthly charge (and subsequent non…
